Asheville photographer Jameykay Young offers an original approach to portraiture, fashion, and wedding photography in the Asheville area. Childhood in the countryside of the Western North Carolina mountains afforded Jameykay with a creative insight into the beauty of nature and wonder of life. Spending her life observing the colors and energy of nature, she gained an incessant desire to create art and beauty out of everything around her. A true artist, Jameykay has spent most of her life with either a pencil, a paintbrush, or a camera in her hands. As a photographer, Jameykay uses her camera to capture the amazement she feels about the world around her, and she hopes for everyone to see the world as beautifully as she does. Professionally, Jameykay Young has achieved many notable successes with her photography both during and after college. Jameykay attended Appalachian State University, graduating with a Bachelor’s in Science for Technical Photography, and a minor in Studio Art. As a senior, she was appointed Studio Manager for the Technical Photography program’s studio, and was a featured photographer in the Student Calumet Photo Product advertisement in 2009. Jameykay was published in Photographer’s Forum Best of College Photography in 2006, 2008, and 2009, receiving three finalist awards and one honorable mention, and was published in Photographer’s Forum Best of Photography in 2010. Jameykay’s work was featured in April of 2010 along with three other photographers in an exhibition at the Nth Degree Gallery in Boone, North Carolina, and in a solo gallery exhibition in July of 2011 at the 2 Many Pixels Gallery in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Shannon Chisholm

This is Shannon. She was riding her bike on Hendersonville Road July 17, 2011 and was struck by a car going 45 mph. She was thrown in the air then bounced off of the car and ended up on the pavement with a crushed spine. Shannon has the most amazing and strong spirit. When I met her this past October I was almost speechless when I realized how she was so positive and shining. Her mission was in the beginning stages so that is what brought me to her. The Chisholm Champion Challenge on Jan. 27-28 2012 will help raise fitness awareness and money for her recovery. A Very Huffman-Frazier-Young Christmas

Christmas for me used to be just my own family celebrating– now I get to celebrate it at least three times but I think we did four times this year. It was a wonderful time. All of the “kids” are grown up and now there are little children and babies in the Huffman-Martin-Frazier group. There’s Matthew, Madi, Noah, and new Mason. I like getting to photograph children, it’s more of a challenge to get them to co-operate with the camera. It was great getting to have a happy holiday with every single one of these people!

Did a little shoot today with my sister, Kelsey. She had some ideas brewing so I aided her in her vision. We went to the River Arts district in Asheville. She styled all of the outfits– don’t you think she’d make a pretty killer stylist?

Moda Asheville | Asheville Fashion Photographer

Another fun shoot for Moda Boutique in Biltmore Park, Asheville, NC. I love just wandering around in the Antique Tobacco Barn (it’s an antique store) and I had never seen the phone booth seen in these photos… I saw a cell phone pic a friend posted on Facebook this past summer of said phone booth and that’s what brought me here.
